Overview
Important: For presence to work in Microsoft Outlook™ Client, Skype™ for Business must be included in the Office Deployment even if you intend only use Microsoft Teams. Work is being planned for the future to remove the Skype™ for Business dependency, but it is not currently scheduled.
Are you missing your presence data in Microsoft Outlook™ Client?
Microsoft Skype™ for Business and Microsoft Teams share their presence data with Microsoft Outlook™ Client. When viewing or composing an email in the Microsoft Outlook™ Client, you can also see the presence of anyone internal in your organization and any external users you have federated presence data with. That presence date will look like the screenshot below.
The presence may show:
- Green as Available
- Yellow as Away or Be Right Back
- Red to show Busy or Do Not Disturb
- as Out Of Office (OoO)
- as Unknown
These presence data can show up in other Office applications as well, such as Microsoft Word, when co-authoring a document in real-time.
If there is no presence circle at all, then you may need to reconfigure your Microsoft Teams client to share presence data. Below is an example of what that will look like.
Note: Presence data will also be missing if your Microsoft Teams client is not running.
