Keyboard Shortcuts in Microsoft Edge

Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys that provide an alternate way to do something you’d typically do with a mouse. Here’s the list for the new Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Edge for Mac.

General Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + N: Open a new window
  • Ctrl + Shift + N: Open a new InPrivate window
  • Ctrl + T: Open a new tab
  • Ctrl + W: Close the current tab
  • Ctrl + Shift + T: Reopen the last closed tab
  • Ctrl + Tab: Switch to the next tab
  • Ctrl + Shift + Tab: Switch to the previous tab
  • Ctrl + 1, 2, … 8: Switch to a specific tab
  • Ctrl + 9: Switch to the last tab
  • Alt + F4: Close the current window
  • Alt + Left Arrow: Go back
  • Alt + Right Arrow: Go forward
  • F5: Refresh the page
  • Ctrl + R: Refresh the page
  • Esc: Stop loading the page

Address Bar Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + L: Select the address bar
  • Alt + D: Select the address bar
  • Ctrl + Enter: Add “www.” to the beginning and “.com” to the end of text in the address bar
  • Ctrl + K: Duplicate the current tab

Other Shortcuts

  • Ctrl + P: Print the current page
  • Ctrl + S: Save the current page
  • Ctrl + O: Open a file from your computer
  • Ctrl + Shift + O: Open the Favorites management page
  • Ctrl + H: Open History in a new tab
  • Ctrl + J: Open Downloads in a new tab
